Spotted what appeared to be circular contrails. I had never seen such a thing before, so stopped for a snap. A quick search of the internet reveals that others have seen such things. If they are contrails, that jet must have been doing donuts.
And in case you're wondering, I don't believe in chem-trails.
No contrails here of any sort.... just a lot of fog!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't like to see a jet performing donuts.
Sx
I should think it would be quite exciting!
DeleteUFOs made those!
ReplyDeletePilots with too much fuel. They were too fast (wind from the back), are not allowed to spray the stuff out, so told to fly a little bit longer - why not do a few circles ?
ReplyDeleteDoes that really happen? Why can't they land with what they have left and save it for the next trip? They have to refuel anyway, so why waste?
DeleteToo dangerous. If you touch down bumpyly with a tank half full / half empty you basically sit on a kettle filled with highly explosive cerosine fumes - and a lot of stuff to feed a fire (in the worst case) ; a small creak in the fuselage, something stupid (and it is always something stupid) and bang. Besides the fuel adds weight, the birds are too heavy to land safely with fuel and passengers. So one has to go.
DeleteIf you touch down empty you have minimised the risk, and that is all that counts.
They are allowed to spray the stuff off, but this must happen at a certain hight, you can not dump some tons of cerosine on a city, in peacetime at least ...
Last year (2017, according to this German article from 2018) more than 580 tons of Kerosin were dumped over Germany.
Very interesting. Thank you.
